A LITTLE MORE THOUGHT BEHIND YOUR SHOES

MADE DIFFERENTLY.

TAYGRAs are made in Brazil with a largely handcrafted production process, water-based glues and a focus on reducing waste. Sustainability isn’t the whole TAYGRA story. But there’s a lot worth knowing about what goes on behind the shoes.

MADE IN BRAZIL

HUMAN HANDS. REAL CRAFT.

TAYGRA has been making shoes in Brazil since 1989, when production began on a small scale in a backyard in Minas Gerais.

More than 35 years later, production remains 100% Brazilian, with around 70% of the process still done by hand and the rest supported by machinery.

Keeping production local means TAYGRA can continue working with skilled makers rather than moving manufacturing offshore. It’s a slower, more human way of making shoes - and one that has been part of TAYGRA from the beginning.

MATERIALS & WASTE

USING MORE OF WHAT ALREADY EXISTS.

TAYGRA looks for ways to reduce waste across its production, from the materials used in some styles to what happens to scraps left behind.

Our Classic Low uppers are made using recycled fabric offcuts, which is why colours and fabrics can vary slightly from pair to pair and batch to batch. Across the wider TAYGRA range, recycled and alternative materials are also used where appropriate.

Production scraps are collected and repurposed rather than simply thrown away, and water-based glues are used in the manufacturing process.

It’s not about claiming every part of every shoe is sustainable. It’s about making considered choices where they can.

THE CURUPIRA PROJECT

GIVING SOMETHING BACK.

Since 2009, TAYGRA has supported CURUPIRA, a reforestation project focused on restoring degraded land in the Brazilian Amazon.

The project works with local communities to plant and care for native trees, creating an economic incentive to restore forest rather than clear it.

It’s a long-term project that connects environmental restoration with local livelihoods - and one TAYGRA has been part of for more than 15 years.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

BETTER, NOT PERFECT.

No sneaker is without impact, and we don’t think sustainability needs to come with big promises.

What we value about TAYGRA is the thought behind how the shoes are made - local Brazilian production, skilled makers, considered materials, reduced waste and a long-term commitment to projects like CURUPIRA.

They’re details that matter. And they make us even happier to put TAYGRAs on more feet.
